Anise ‘Florida Sunshine’
Illicium parviflorum ‘Florida Sunshine’
LANDSCAPE USE
These are native shrubs that literally glow during the short-wet days of winter, when its normally chartreuse foliage turns a brilliant yellow. Not that it was necessary, but the plant also gifts us with lovely red stems and a carefree attitude. These look particularly nice grown on woodland edges where they offer a sense of lightness to offset the deep shadows behind. In spring the plants produce lots of deliciously scented (but toxic) berries. This plant is also great for filling a waterlogged or low-lying area, as they don’t at all mind having wet feet.
